The white led on my Hydra does not come on. I looked at the motherboard and seems like one of the resistors is burnt. Anyone know which type of resistor AI used? Does anyone know where is can source this part or a new board in general?

Please see pictures ( first picture is the burnt one and second picture is how it should look)

AI should replace it

Well, I am sure they can but rest of the board is still good. It looks like it just to replace the resistor and solder it back.

I am trying to see if someone knows the layout of this board and where I can source each component.

Sorry, I am not sure what you mean on #reefsquad.

The reefsquad is a small group of members that often have answers when a member needs help. So by typing #reefsquad it calls our attention.

Now, having said all of that, electronics is certainly not my specialty. But I had an unknown issue with an older AI Vega and the company took care of it. Total time was only about 8 days...sent to them, repaired and back to me. So it's a good option if you don't find the answers you're looking for.

Have you contacted AI to see if they can sell you a new board?

I did and it would cost about $100. Don't want to go that route just yet. I believe it is a simple fix with part cost no more than $10. Just want to ask someone more knowledgeable to see what part AI uses and where to source it.

Gotcha.

Looks like a capacitor thats blown as its labeled C5 where the resistors are labeled R*. If you can find out its value/rating/capacity you should be able to find them online at an electronic store. Good luck with that, I would be doing the same if it was mine.

This type of component it is soldered on the board with a special process not user replaceable. Did work on this kind of circuit board for the Navy.:) Best to spend the 100 dollars to repair.

yea, thanks for pointing out the labels. But, no luck on finding the value/rating on the capacitor. I have seem a lot of threads about bad AI circuit board in the forum. There has to be someone who attempted to fix it before handing over the cash to AI.

Would you care to explain more? I would assume it is still possible to solder the connection. I do see these are not pinned like typical DIY circuitry.

They use a reflow method of soldering not a pencil iron that you see for old style components. I used to do this board level work every day. But I took a two month coarse and had to pass a special test with the navy to do the work. Only two of us pasted the final test to do the work.

Thanks Reefwiser for sharing the video. He explained the reflow method is more efficient but it is certainly do able with the conventional way.

Appreciate the advice. I would still want to give a try first but couldn't find information of the value of the burnt capacitor through google search. No luck, might have to contact AI, but doubt they will share this information.
