Not in my experience. UV is a sterilizer I would think if anything it would help prevent algae.

How deep is your tank ? How are you running the T5s? What are you growing? If you are going Acros you could probably crank the hydra up quite a bit.(slowly) With your T 5s you should be getting plenty of par , you could adjust the Hydra to were YOU like the look and then set it on the acclimation mode for 4 weeks or so. Just keep an eye on your corals and adjust if they start looking "off". FWIW, I run my hydras with longer ramps(5 hrs) and a 4 hr peak-at peak the hydras are at100% on all channels except white(69%) My T5s overlap the LED peak 2 B+ come on 3 hrs before the peak ,2 C+ an hr before then go off an hr after it,B+ 3 hrs after. Also the "UV" on hydras isn't true UV so it's not a sterilizer.

I am going to be upgrading to Hydra 26 soon and this is what BRS recommended in their video. I have no evidence to prove its effectiveness one way or the other, but it's what I plan on starting with as a baseline.

There are also some "custom"preset schedules available on MYAI . BRS has several as well ,some are geared for SPS , some for LPS . Depending on how you access your lights, there is a Kelvin scale preset as well. Use the slider to get 15000k or whatever your preference is.
