I am setting up a 4x2x2 120 and originally planned to do 2 hydra 26 HD lights on it. After reading and watching videos I decided to add the aquatic t5 to the list as well and purchased a 48” the other day. After watching videos on BRS I started thinking, should I run the 2 hydra 26hd with it or would I be better served running 3 AI primes to spread them out better? My tank has two glass cross braces that block some light out so I though the 3 primes may be better since they would go in the 3 open spots. I plan on keeping mostly lps with maybe a couple SPS but generally I am not into the SPS. I have 1 AI Prime HD currently and 1 AI Hydra 26hd so adding a second hydra 26 or 2 Primes is about the same. Give or take a little cash. Any information or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I posted this on the BRS Facebook as well.

So this is similar to what I run on my tank. I run this same 48" fixture, with an orphek blue bar on the front of it, and inside 2 ai hydras and 2 ai primes for coverage. I am doing much more SPS than it sounds like you will be doing. I think for coverage and the ability to pivot them around I would recommend the Primes if you don't need the par of the 26's

I agree that 3x Prime would be the way to go. A little smaller light spread out, works well with your braces. T5 is doing all the heavy lifting you just want them for florescence.
