I recently acquired 2 AI Hydra's first gen, I however don't have a working controller to change the light settings and they're stuck at default. Does anyone know if theres any alternatives to change the lighting settings? or replacement controllers. If not I might have to put them up for sale or trade

With light unplugged, Push and hold power then plug in while continuing to hold power. Connect fresh to the app and go under settings. You can force push the firmware update. It should reset.

As unhelpful as this comment may seem I have struggled with connection to my 52 HD’s since the day I bought them. Absolute nightmare. Reset them countless times with no effect. I just shut the app down and then restart maybe 200/300 times and it eventually works. Infuriating. I used to be able to connect locally easily enough but even that’s stopped working.

One thing I found and we all don't want to hear this, our normal day to day devices (I am an IT engineer) have different versions of Bluetooth. If one person uses an iPhone and another uses an Android, they can get different results with Reef technology. I myself have an older Samsung note8 which was before all the darn revisions to Bluetooth so mine functions perfect, however if I upgrade my phone it may have hiccups.

dang im using a new samsung

Ill try my old samsung tablet
honestly it is the reason I have an 8 year old phone lol. Even my new laps Bluetooth drops video conferences once in a while. so annoying. They should let you manually go back to BT1 when using certain equipment instead of auto switching.

Still didnt work :(

I spoke to DD about this and all they could tell me was to hard reset and try again. I am utterly exhausted by the situation. To be fair I hardly ever need to change my settings but when algae starts to get a little out of hand I like to drop my overall power to combat this but can take days of trying on and off to connect to the lights. The most annoying part is when I finally get connected I get about 15 seconds and the connection drops and I am left for a few days not knowing what changes have been saved if any. Every time I go to change these lights I get irritated just at the thought.

How do I hard reset?

I’ve got the original Hydras. To pair (with the controller at least), the led has to be on steady red, so it may be possible to pair it with the MyAI app using a phone or iPad etc. Whilst plugged in and power on, press and hold the button, the light will eventually go through green, flashing amber, then nothing and then a red flash. When it flashes red, release the button and the led should then turn steady red, this is pairing mode.
