Anyone had this issue? It still feels solid, but a Hydra mount has failed on me before and cracked my tank once. So this little gap kinda wigs me out. Any advice?

Oddly enough its the new one. I tried the flex mount and the adhesive failed. It cracked my first attempt at a Red sea reefer 170. This is one significantly more sturdy it just still seems...I don’t know. Too cheap for the light? If that makes sense?

I see that it is the new one. i just took mine out of the box to double check. I hope its sturdy. I am planning on mounting a 64 plus the Reefbrite XHO setup with it this weekend. Maybe its the glass thickness on the 170?

I was looking at those reefbrite strips but honestly I’m not sure I’d trust this fixture with the extra weight unless I dropped it down.

I guess logic tells me that the BRS recommended height of 12 inches off the surface is to maximize spread. If you added the RB’s and dropped it to maybe 10 or 9 inches you could turn the AI down and have better spread.

Yeah Im probably gonna lower it and may pursue a diffuser too to help reduce the spotlighting
