AI Hydra requires AI Director?

I am wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on this. I'm having issues finding info as AI 26 and 52 keep coming up in my searches. I just acquired a Gen 1 AI Hydra with the wireless controller, and I am trying to figure out what I need to get it hooked up to the MyAI app. Does it require me purchasing the AI Director? Or am I just missing something when I try to set it up?

Are these the HD's If the are the older ones I think you have to hook them up directly to you computer or controller to program them. AI is really good about there customer service/Tech support and I would give them a call.

If u have the wireless adapter on the light fixture u can use the AI director.

They're the original Hydras. Not the 26, 52, or HD versions. I have the "wireless" controller, but I don't know what else I need to get it hooked to the app.

I think you're thinking too hard about this. If you have a wireless controller and are able to control your lights from that controller wirelessly, you will need to purchase an AI Director which needs to be hardwired (LAN) to a router or modem. From there you can download the application on your phone and/or your computer and control your lights from virtually anywhere. Of coarse you'll need to setup your lights to the Director first before you can have fun with it. I hope this clears things up.

So then that begs the question, where can I buy the Director? Unless I'm missing something it looks like it has been discontinued.

You can search it on Amazon, eBay, or any of the sponsors here that sell hardware. I'm sure your LFS can also order for you. These units go for $199 new, but I'm sure you can also get it used for a half the cost or so. Good luck!

No luck on eBay or Amazon. I don't think my LFS sells AI stuff anymore. They're pushing EcoTech pretty hard. If I was going to spend $199 I'd just buy an AI Prime and be done with it. I guess I'll just have to look for a used one since all the normal channels are sold out and discontinued.

I sent you a link. I didn't know they were discontinued. Actually, I haven't done much research as to why and what replaced it. I'm going to take a wild guess and say AI Prime is their new seller for that price.
