I know this is a new light so info will be limited, but still hoping for some. I currently have the sol blues and have been running them for over a year. I have had great luck and everything in my tank is very healthy and happy. I have a standard 120 (4x2x2) with a center brace. I run 3 sols(2 on one side and 1 on the other) and was finally looking into getting a 4th. Then I heard about the new Hydra and it got some wheels turning. I've heard there is a decent amount more spread on this and better colors. I could upgrade 2 of my units for the same price as one additional sol. I could then run 2 of these and 1 sol. I have a full blown Sps tank with clams, so strong lighting is very important to me. I don't really have a specific question, I'm just more trying to get some thoughts from the new users of the Hydra. Also thoughts of which way I should go. So let the responses fly and just let me know what you think.

bad luck with Hydra

This was my tank back in March under a Kessil a360w. My tank is 8 years old and has been under LED's for 6 years now.

My Hydra and director have malfunctioned several times leaving the light on at full power for 48 hours. This is what my tank looks like today under the Hydra. AI told me it was a faulty power supply on the director and sent me a new power supply. that did not fix the problem. I work long hours and am not home all the time to monitor the tank. I have come home several times to the light being on at 100% power at 3am. It has melted almost all my coral. it even killed the kenya tree and gsp??? The Director and Hydra are buggy, I have been playing phone tag with AI for weeks now. At this point the light will not come on manually. In my opinion this light and Director combo are not ready for sale.

WOW.
I'm using mine with just a timer, coming on at 100% for 8 hours. Nothing smoking in my tank. Thing is freakin fantastic, kicks my 250w halide butt.

I am running 1 Hydra 52 on half of my 90 with a Sol Blue on the other half. Right now I am having great luck and will be upgrading my other Sol Blue when the upgrade comes out for the Hydra 52.
