Got my Director and Hydra running on my tank and gotta say these are AMAZING!!!! I have mine runny very very low right now but I am very happy with how they look. Did anyone else change out from 150w halides to Hydras? I am just so worried about burning my corals, I am running green, uv, violet, and reds at 5% for 6 hours. White at 16% for 6 hours. Royal Blue and Deep Blue at 22% for 6 hours. All colors ramp up and down to those peaks and are at those peaks for 6 hours.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, yes I am acclimating. I didnt realize the acclimation feature worked where you set up the max where you want the lights then it slowly raises them up to that from the reduction % you set it at. So I have mine set there and was then going to slowly raise them up over several week. However I might end up just figuring out where I want the max to be and run the acclimation feature. Suggestions on both would be helpful.

I was so tempted to go with the hydras did u get the new ones that bring more bulbs I think they're the 56 or something like that

I would say set the lights to the max and use the acclimation feature it's easier. As far as max percentages if you look at a couple of pages before you'll see a couple of people posts their feedback on that. I would say just acclimate for a month

I got the original hyrda and love it, you are thinking of the 52. Those look amazing as well.

Gotcha!! Lol thanks I knew it was something like that, i wanted 2 of them for my 93cube but went a diff route..with a mh/led combo but glad to hear they are working out for you!! That lightening feature seems really cool..what'd you think of that?

I just got my hydra last week wow what a difference my acans are puffed right out. Love them.

Has anyone had problems with the Hydra and Director? I went from Kessil a360w to the Hydra with a Director. I have had nothing but problems with this light I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same issues. I have come home several times to the light on at full power and the director shows the light to be off. Also the date and time keep changing on its own. AI told me it was a power cord issue and have sent me a new one. That did nothing to solve the problem. Did i get a bad light or Director? just curious if any one else has had the same problems.

I've been dealing with the director since beta. I've had a few issues but resolve. From what I've seen many people are having issues. At my job I set up the director and we had issues over and over with the power cord. So we eventually just put in the old controller because we have the store to take care of lol.

I had this issue a few times with my director at home after a while it stopped acting up.

I love how the acans puff up but you seem to lose the true coloration on some. Only reason I'm supplementing with t5
jmanyoma, how do you have your T5s retro'ed to your hydras? Did you post a pic earlier? can't remember, which post #? Can you post a pic?

wireless is not the issue

Most likely it's the director having issues. I think it probably has to do with your wireless connection.
That was my original thought although i have had the same problem with the Director plugged into ethernet directly. My wifi is strong i live in a small 1200 sq ft condo and the Director and tank are only about 15 ft apart on the same level. AI told my the wifi dongle was strong and I had strong wifi signal. I am stumped. I think i have a bad Director. AI is convinced it is Firmware or power supply. I updated the firmware and now Director is not visible in my network. I give up on this light. I dont think AI was ready to put this on the market.

I had issues with my director when I very first set it up. First it wouldnt find the director when I tried to sign in. I simply unplugged and plugged back in the director and issue solved. Then it kept jumping to 3am, did the update and haven't had a problem since then. Internet went out in my house last night and not a single hiccup from the director or light. My wireless modem and router are located upstairs, my tank is downstairs almost directly below where the router is located. So I placed my director downstairs about 5 feet from the tank. My favorite part of the director besides all the functions it has is the fact it is so easy to make minor changes to color intensity and the fact you can check on the lights anywhere you can get an internet connection.

I've had the lower watt Hyra on my 20 gal L sps tank now for about 3 months and I'm finally starting to understand how the colors should be set. Especially after talking to Joel from AI. Both Blue colors reach 100% as well as the whites and violets. The greens reach a peak of 60% while the reds only reach 40%. UV's only reach 17% currently. mind you I have this fixture 18inch off the water so I can get more coverage since it is a longer tank. Also keep in mind this is the original Hydra, not the higher wattage and differently configured Hydra52. UV's will burn the crap out of corals if not acclimated properly. UV deliver a slight burn which causes the corals color up or produce more zooanthelle to serve as a sun screen. If this is done too fast it can bleach corals or stress them out. Reds have a very small effect on PAR and really serve as just a color enhancer for your fish. Greens and whites have a much greater effect on PAR. I'm going slow with the greens as well as I don't want to burn he corals. The whites, greens, and reds all peak for only 30 minutes but have a 4 and half hour ramp time. So far the acros seem to be doing well and are getting nice color. The growth rates aren't where I would like them so I may have to move the fixture closer or think about throwing on some supplemental T5's. I wish I knew the PAR values but I dont' have access to a meter. Anyone who has gathered PAR values with this fixture it would be awesome to hear the values. Not even AI could tell me any PAR values they got with this light, which seems weird to me. I would think that would be the first thing done with a new light.

I think I may have mine dialed in finally. I have been slowly increasing the whites for a couple of weeks to a peak of 35%. Keep in mind I keep mainly z/p and chalice along with a few other lps in the system. This has a nice 20k radium halide look at peak day. I am doing a 4hr ramp time starting at 9am-5:30pm with the ramp up leaning towards the blue

These are what my settings are

V:33
R:20
G:20
