So, I’ve been wanting some more random light ramping or cloud cover during my lighting peak period to try a coral “respiration” period. Maybe that is just a bunch of crap and I don’t need it... I know I can do this with the light settings, but I like the idea of it happening randomly with the weather effects.

I’m wondering if anyone has been able to emulate that with the AI app using weather at a low intensity. So far I do see it dim ever so slightly, but haven’t noticed the annoying lightning or storm effects that typically come with higher intensity. Maybe this could work?! I currently have the weather set at about a 25% intensity.

Anyone else try it this or have luck with it?

Their weather app is junk since they were bought out. I used to use the director for weather before the HD came out and it gave you options for sunrise/sunset, clouds and thunder and would sync between the lights so they would roll across multiple lights. Now The app "weather" is just thunder control. The lights don't sync up for a rolling effect now. I have not been able to control anything else but lightning. Ecotech thinks they can force people to buy their radeons by taking away from the Hydras HD... I'm not budging.

The lightning/thunder does turn off and it is a random clouds setting when you turn back the intensity. I’ve confirmed that now! I hate the lightning too so I never used it... until I figured that out.

I see no option to turn the lightning off on the Hydra HD app.

that's because it isn't there. I emailed AI techs asking about this and they flat out said they have no plans on updating the app to do this. I have emailed several times to get updates since I got the Hydra HD. The last reply i got was Feb 9th.

Gabe,

I am sorry you feel that way. Unfortunately there is not much else that can be done. As of now I can tell you there are no plans to bring the cloud feature back. However it may be something that can happen in the future. I hope this information helps.

Thank you,"

There isn't a labeled option to turn off the lightning, no.

BUT, if you turn the weather Intensity slider down to around 25% or lower, it doesn't flash lightning anymore. It just slowly dims the light up and down when the weather is triggered. I've confirmed this by turning the probability up all the way and watching. No more lightning.

I see flashes no matter what settings I use.

Interesting... it went away for me unless I bump intensity above 25% or so on the slider.
Yeah. I may notice it more than most because I sit next to my tank every day for work. If weather is on at all (and I've tried all the settings), I get noticeable flashes. It is quite distracting and is why I say the weather feature is the only thing I dislike on AI lights. I love everything else on these lights.

Agreed. Maybe it is doing it when I don’t notice... oh well, the app is great for programming ramp up and down points throughout the day, so I’ll just take advantage of that.
