hey R2R peeps
I just bought a AI Hydra 26. As of recently my plans for it have changed(sick fish). So I'm planning to set it up over a QT tank for now. So this brings me to my question how do u guys have ur AIs hung or set up? I'm kinda looking for a DIY kind of install because a) I don't like the factory set up they have for the hanging kit and for the clip on the back of the tank kit and b) I can not rationing paying 34 dollars for a piece of metal that I then have to buy something else for to hang it on my tank or 40 dollars for the hanging kit. Call me silly but that's insane. So how did U set ur lights up? Pictures and descriptions both are welcome.
Thanks in advance
Justin

I use the classic rails and the hanging kit. Love it.

Very nice tank my friend very nice what size is that 125? And how much did u buy that for?

This is the way I ended up hanging my Hydra 52s.
I have a WoodCraft store locally so I picked up a couple of t-rails and then headed to Home Depot to pick up everything else.
Until I took the picture this morning, I didn't realize that I had forgotten to cut the excess allthread since I was trying to get the lights hung quickly- my OCD won't allow that to continue.
Total cost- approximately $35.

I used the kessel goose necks so not to void the warranty, and I can position them were I want them to shine. I have seen a couple of guys us TV mounts so the can swing them and position then light were they want. Here is my setup. Here is a thread on R2R with the TV mounts. The reason I did not go with the TV mount is that I did not want to attach anything to the wall.

Do those kessil goose necks support the Hydra 26hd with no extra support?

I cut 1 inch od PVC x 12 inch and spray painted the PVC black for the support I needed. It was strange, one of the goose neck would hold the light and the other would not. I came up with the support and did it on both lights. I also used a slightly long screw with a lock washer and a washer to hold the bracket to the light. Note: you do not want the screw to go down into the light or it could short out the board inside, in turn warranty issues

Thanks very good ideas all of u I really like the floating canopy @Mediumrare . I actually think all ur guys set ups are truly nice. I just hate wires hate seeing them the them in general but thank u guys I got a few ideas percolating in my head now
