I recently installed an AI/Nano Sol (with the new controller) over my Mom's 24g reef. The fixture is mounted with the stock black mounting arm with an inch or so gap between the top of the fixture and arm. I set it up with the Auto (easy) Timer set-up. It's supposed to power on @5:30am with a 6hr ramp time. The Coral Acclimation Mode is active.

The problem I'm experiencing is the fixture powers itself off during the day. Mom called me Tuesday to say the light was off @4:30pm when she came home from work. She unplugged the unit and plugged it back in. The LEDs powered on and ran fine the rest of the night as programmed. Then the problem repeated Wednesday. Thursday she said she was late getting home and the light was off @5:45pm,but powered on automatically @6:30pm. I went over to her house @12pm yesterday and the light was off, but the heat sink felt warm (not hot). I backed the mounting screws out a little as I read that over-tightening the screws could prevent the cooling fan from running and cause the fixture's thermal protection to shut the unit down. I unplugged the unit, plugged it back in and the light & fan came right on. After about 1o minutes, the fan turned off. I went over this morning and was told the light was off again &4:45pm yesterday and stayed off until this morning. At a loss, I performed a factory reset and then a firmware update on the controller. I then set the timers up for the preferred times as before. When I went back over @6:30pm, Mom said the unit powered off again this afternoon and she had to unplug/replug to get the light back on.

Any ideas? I called AI tech support, but they called back after I left the house. So I wasn't able to talk to them while sitting in front of the unit. Of course, when I called today, they were closed.

I would make sue that the firmware is current( on their web site check latest version) they have had a LOT of updates... Hope this fixes it!

Yep. Performed factory reset and updated firmware today. Still shutting down.
