AI NERO 5 POWERHEAD

Does anyone run the Octo Pulse 2 or 4? The reviews are solid.

@schooncw - My #LFS runs 2 pair and he likes them a lot and he has had them running for about 5 months. He has the Pulse 2's and the Pulse 4's. It's a sold pump but not my first choice since there a bit new for me.

Yes, they are new but Reef Octopus is a brand that I can stand behind.

I do like my Octo pulse. It’s only been in the tank for a week though and the only “wave”pump I can compare it to are the Sicce Voyager 4’s I have. They ARE NOT in the same category.... Just from a visual stand point , I’d say about the same size as Vortec 40 if the dry side was in the tank with the wet side. One thing I don’t like about the octo , is on “random” flow , it pulses but doesn’t stop , the flow stays fairly strong. I haven’t tried any of the other 3 modes on the controller and don’t have an Apex , you may be able to have more control with a different controller.

I have 2 Nero 5 pumps on a 13mm glass. They are quiet, small, love the app. The magnet holds fine just not super strong hold but I need to use force from my finger to knock it off. I dont see that being a problem.

Only thing is a snail got stuck in mine last nice. Making a loud clocking sound. I hope this doesn't happen again. I emailed the company and asking them to make a thin porous sponge for the back. It will be super easy!

120 g and I have it max at 50% . It moves a lot of water

I just bought one. I was deciding between this, Octo Pulse, ReefBreeder, and Coral Box. After a lot of researching and with the sale, IMO I feel like Nero 5 is at the right price point. I know at $250 it's still double of the ReefBreeder and Coral Box, but I feel like it has a much cleaner and more compact design -- I tend to strive more of having my tank with a cleaner look.

I agree. I did buy the reef breeder and a coral box. I returned both. They make a very high pitch noise. Like super high. I have sensitive hearing so it bugged me. They are trying to fix the issue. Some people with loud tanks prob cant hear it.

I'll just eat it and get a tried and true Vortech. Seems to be firmware issues and of course the magnet.

Ya. I reported issues with the software. When I’m looking at the current speed it closes. They say nothings wrong

It's a shame as the profile is very nice, the app is (could) be good, lot's of high/broad flow, etc.
