I'm thinking of buying 2 of these pumps for my 66g reef tank ( 32"L x 17"w - rear sump - x 20" H), instead of 2 maxspecht XF230 gyre's. However I've seen several reviews online that even though the Nero 5 magnets are good up to 1/2", even at that thickness on a tank the pumps barely are able to stay attached and many say they need stronger magnets. To be exact my glass thickness is 12mm ( 0.47" ) and the nero's are supposed to be good up to 13mm. Anyone having this issue with these pumps with 1/2" glass?

Looks like a nice pump. Not many reviews yet on them and the few their are are not long term. I personally never by the first gen of anything anymore. Still bugs to work out and real world improvements to be made. Juat look at Ecotech early Vortechs and the Gen 1 Radion, Koralia gen1 pumps, early Neotherm heaters, the firsr AI light and then the Sol. All great products not knocking them but all had their downs. I would gomwith the FX230 its making waves in the power head world, pun intended.

I have two gyre 230s facing each other and the Nero 5 on the upper back left side on my Waterbox 100.3 (73g) and I love it haven’t had a problem with the magnet
