I just picked up a biocube and I had some ai primes 16hd laying around. I’m wanting to keep the hood on the tank due to kids like to play and throw stuff in the tank but I noticed how big the feed pork was so I set the ai prime in a angle on the port and shines perfectly on my rockwork. With the light only being inches from water surface would this be ok to grow corals or what setting would you do

Sorry I’m finding it hard to understand what you’re asking, maybe you can reword it a bit?

I will say it’s detrimental having your light that close to the water, you’ll just get a PAR hotspot right in the centre and no PAR on the inner/outer middle, you’ll want to raise it a little bit for a better outcome

I think you’re just gonna have to try it. I’ve got a crappy Fluval light low down on a little softy tank which seems to be ok, but as I’m sure you’re aware, most folks have them a little higher. You should be able to start at a low intensity, then slowly ramp it up as I’m guessing you have no idea of the light intensity.

For what it’s worth I would remove the lid (if possible) and get a screen, just for gas exchange purposes. Obviously you could raise the light then.

I tryed removing the lid was off a total of 2 hours and kids was alrdy in the tank so it’s gonna have to work

I would worry about your kids either getting electrocuted or bringing the tank down on top of themselves if that’s the way they are regardless of a top . You might want to rethink placement of tank or even if now is the best time to set it up . Electricity ,glass ,and water can be a recipe for bad things to happen .my opinion
