I’m getting a pair of ai primes tomorrow for my 75g mixed tank. All my corals are on mostly one side of the tank as a island I watched the brs video and there mounting height was 13” above waterline anyone else hung there’s this high. And is there a home way to hang these lights from ceiling without ordering a kit. I bought some chain yesterday.

I don't think so. The mounting hole is on the back of the light, not the top.. the fan output takes up most of the top center. This is probably also so they can sell you a $25 hanging kit instead of you buying a chain lol
Regardless, the ceiling mounting kit comes with a sort of gimble mechanism that screws into the back and reaches over the top and allows the light to balance. Sort of like those bird toys that can balance from their beak on your finger tip.

I have 2 primes on my 30 gallon. They work great. Only thing i would suggest is pick a light schedule and stick to it. I have many a time, gone in and changed the settings simply because i could and there is endless possibilites when it comes to the lighting schedule. I suggest go on AI's website and pick one of the premade schedules and stick to it.
Oh and for hanging, i use the L mount brackets. They are sleek and look nice. If you are insisting on hanging from the ceiling, you're gonna need the hanging kit. Like mentioned before, the mount is on the back not top so it makes it tricky. Someone out there might have a hack for it but i havent looked.

they make a flat bracket that screws into the mounting hole on the back and sort of balances the light while being hung from the top about 30 bucks
