I have a 20 gallon peninsula for about 6 months. I keep my blues and violets at 60 and whites at around 10. I see people with their setting in even smaller tanks above 100. Is it ok to go that high? I just worry its too much

The correct answer here is to get/borrow/rent a PAR meter to adjust your lights. Not everybody has access to one so what brand lights? Somebody here might have the exact same lights/tank and can pass along their experience. If you do change your lighting do it very slowly don't just jump up to 100 that will stress your corals out.

Ai prime 16hd. I have raised them with a week long acclimation period

Ha, I was just reading unanswered threads and didn't realize the light model was in the title. I have AI 52s, and 26HDs. They are a very powerful lights. I have 2 of the AI 52's about 8"s above my 75G and slowly ramped them up to 100 for the violets and blues. I finally got a PAR meter and the PAR at my sand level was 325 o_O. I have slowly backed them off and now have the Blues, UV, Violet at about 60% and my whites only peak at 15% during the day. I'm am NOT a light expert but I know the AIs are pretty strong. This is not an easy question to answer with out a meter you kind of have to let the corals tell you if they like the light or not, which is not easy to do when you're starting off with corals.

I have a different light and different tank but I"m running mine close to yours, if that even means anything.

I found the Seneye to be the cheapest. I thought I could use it for more than just reading PAR but the Seneye didn't really perform as a PH/Temp/NH monitor. Some reef clubs and LFS let you borrow or rent them. I think you can rent one from BRS too. Good luck on your quest. You can google a (coral name) and PAR and get some idea of what kind of light people keep things at. I look up any new corals I buy and it helps me place things in my tank.

Alrighty. Thx for ur responses

Really depends on what coral you have.

1 is enough at those levels for most lps and softies. If I have to guess I'd think your par would be 50 - 150 in yourbl tank at those levels.

On my 29G, I run 100+% on my two ai primes for the uv, v, rb, and b channels and 70+ on white bc I have SPS and trying to get tanks to 300-400PAR.

Softies and lps for now. Just have a hammer and zoas and Duncan and richordia low right now. O and a blasto mid tank. All doing fine but no real growth. So I upped to 87 blues and violets and white 12 on a week acclimation for now

I typically do 1% per day for acclimation. Looks like youb are increasing by 28% for the blues and purples? I'd do 4 week acl to be safe - 3 we minimum

Also monitor for color bleaching and polyp closing. Thats ur first sign too much light.
