I got a ai prime 32hd when I bought it i was told to only run blues with little cool white! Question is if I run UV will it help kill algae or will it make it grow faster. Thanks for the help!

So what's the difference between a UV sterilizer and the UV setting on the light?

A lot actually. A UV runs flow based on what you are trying to address with it, UV spectrum blasting down from your lighting is basting everything in constant UV lighting. UV light housing is blasting UV only. Your light might have a UV spectrum that you can adjust. My Display lighting has my UV at 70% for part of the day. My UV filter has 100% UV for all the water that runs through it regardless of time of day.

So what's the difference between a UV sterilizer and the UV setting on the light?

The wavelengths. UV-C light is around 253 nm. My guess is the the UV in a Hydra is 380 nm or above.
