I know there is a specific refuge light from Aqua Illuminations (for the same price as an AI Prime!).

Could one just use an AI prime (light spectrum adjusted to red more?); instead of the AI refuge specific light?

Any recommendations for refuge lighting?

You could, but it is easier to just buy a light that has the spectrum already built it. Kessil lights are known to be great for refugiums.

The problem is they are a 50w light with everything at 100%. To get the ideal spectrum to grow macro you will be turning the blue channels all the way down which, without one infront of me, is probably 60% of the power draw. At a guess, you will be left with a 15-20w fuge light trying to complete with 100's of watts of reef light. IMO, bite the bullet and get the right tool for the job.

Interesting reasoning. Thank you
