I have an IM Lagoon 25 and wanted to know what height others use from their light to the surface of the water on this shallow tank.

I think most people keep it 12-18 inches from the water surface, sort of depends on how much light spread you need. There's a lot of videos on the AI prime on youtube though :)

With a single prime it would need to be pretty high. I had a IM25 lagoon for a frag tank and for full coverage with the AI mounts you need 2 Primes.

I currently have the AI Prime 8 inches above the water surface in the center of the tank. I’ve always thought the light spread was decent at this height but I’m certainly second guessing that now. Is 8 inches way too low?

I know the AI mounts are about 8in high maxed out. I'm sure the light works but for my IM25 lagoon frag tank with mainly SPS I needed two Primes. The Primes have roughly a 18x18in coverage. I would think only with one Prime anything on the outer edges would be low light or NPS type corals.
