I just had my cheaper LED light start to die on me and I'm looking around for a new one.
I am between the new AI prime HD and NanoBox.

Tanks is an 8-gallon nano, mixed reef that has been up for about 2 years now.

I'm a college student so cost and life span of the light is gonna be my main focus right now.

Thoughts and input before I pull the trigger and buy a new light!?

A bump for those that have used the product. I like AI products, I have the AI Hydra 52, but that Nanobox looks really sharp.

If it were me it would be the AI Prime HD. You're getting more for less money. From what I could see you have to purchase a separate bluefish controller for the Nanobox unless I'm missing something. Bottom line is that on an 8 gallon tank both of those lights are more than capable.

Prime or Prime HD would be perfect. Honestly if you can find an original Prime you could save a little. The HD is only 20 bucks more, but you might be able to find a Prime on sale at a better deal. I have a prime on my 10g and I'll never need the extra power of the HD. That said, if you ever wanted to upgrade the HD might come in handy down the road.

Have one above a 16x16 4-5gal frag tank that I use for quarantine. It was less headache than radions to setup and perfect for a small tank. If I turn it all the way up I could keep SPS in there- took par reading with seneye to verify. Currently running at about 30%, good for softies and lps.

I had 2 ai prime on my 75. It wasn't enough for my tank but I think that a 8G nano it would be perfect for with sps

I have a new AI Prime HD on my new Nuvo Fusion 40. It's currently cycling, so I can't report on how well it works on maintaining livestock. I can say that the built-in WiFi control is the cats meow and is super easy to set up and use. If lights up my tank like a sunny day on full power, so I have a lot of confidence that it will serve my needs well.
