Hi!
I LOVE my API light, and started it with just the simple “easy set up” setting- but I am wondering if I should fine tune it all all?
Maybe in”over-tinker”, but what are your lights set at?
I have a 40 Nuvo cube.
Thanks in advance!

What kind of light is it? ATI?

Prime HD

#mods might want to change the title with OPs permission to represent his light (AI Prime HD) rather than API to assist with responses.

I don't have any experience with the light myself so I will be little help!

#reefsquad any love for the AI Prime HD?

Only recommendation I can give is on LED in general.. find a setting you like and stick with it for 30 days or more. That is when you'll notice the full effects of the light impacting coral positively (speaking in regards to SPS).

First off, give that bad boy a good cleaning with compressed air and a wash cloth. She looks like she's had a couple rounds lol

I think it looks good, battle wounds and all:cool:

As @Amoo said above If things are happy there's no need to change things, are you not happy with how the light looks?? I love my AI Primes, mine are still set pretty low, going from stock PC to 100% LED really wasn't something my corals had any interest in lol

Where I got the starting point for mine but had to tone it right down, and I cut the whites much lower, currently fighting a HA outbreak

FWIW In my 4ish years experience with LEDs and reef tanks, tinkering leads to problems. If your tank is happy leave it alone.

If you have a reason that is another discussion to be had, but just copying generic settings somebody else is using without any rhyme or reason or even tank details is honestly a trip back to T5s and MH quicker than anything I have seen as LED technology develops.

Why tinker? Is everything happy?

I think yes? I think it is just for. My own enjoyment- on the days I am off, AND HOME- which is like twice a month, I see he light in full effect and it is amazing- just wish I could see that on the days I get home late-lol

Can you change your light cycle to start later and end later. My cycle is from 12pm - 10pm shoo I get to enjoy my tank in the evenings.

Yes- I was thinking about that, but I did not want to miss the tank up due to my greed in wanting to see my sparkly fish and corals![emoji1303]

If move it slowly should be ok. I mean tbh i think its more the constant tinkering with light intensity that really cause more issues with corals.
Corals seem just fine after a black out period for algae.

But i would change settings after the lights go off though. Ime experience lights flashing is the cause of fish hitting glass or jumping.
