Here’s my schedule for my ai prime. This is a 24g cube. I can’t read par, and the light is about 10 inches from the surface. I have noticed increased algae growth as well which is definitely from the light because the dark side of my thermometer is spotless. Any thoughts? If any suggestions make them as if this were a mixed reef even though I don’t have coral in here yet.
Thank you

I’m new to this. this is my schedule. I got it from a YouTube video I edited mine a bit from his. he had a lot of success with it in a 3 month period. He has a mixed reef also. His tank is 40 gallons.

I like the David Saxby setting. If you go to Aqua Illumination website there are some presets there that are very good. Of you like blue try the David Saxby one. You can download it and then upload it to the App and test it out.
Can I just lower the intensity if it’s too high? Because I think even at 50% it’s too high as algae is covered my sand pretty fast

Yeah you can change the presets up to make them closer to what you like. You can also just save them for when you have corals ready and less algae. Everything is adjustable. It just gives you something to start from instead of a blank slate.

How long has the tank been running?

Do you have clean-up-crew?

41% on an AI prime on a 24g isn’t particularly bright IMO. I am running mine at 100% on a 13g, albeit that is SPS, and it is getting a max of about 270 PAR iirc.

If you don’t have corals in there yet then you can just turn it off!

I was curious to know how old your tank was? I had a brown diatom bloom for about a week when my phosphates were high during the cycling process but all of that subsided with in a week. My clean up crew took care of it. It’s looking really good right now. My tank is 4 weeks old as of this coming Monday.

It’s about 9 months now, my clean up crew is dwindling. but I had another light and it was part of the lid and didn’t have settings so when I upgraded to this light I wasn’t sure how strong it would need to be without a par meter to measure. Your right about turning the light off, but I figured that since I’ll be buying pretty soon I wanted to get it situated.
