So I'm finally getting my second AI Prime since upgrading from a 29 to a 55 gallon I'm just finding the money to order my second light. So till now all of the coral has been on one side of the tank lol. I know... on a budget here.

So my question is the LFS I bought my original prime HD from told me to never go over 20% power on UV and bright white. But I see other people running 100% everything? I know you must acclimate slowly but how high can you go befor you melt coral?

Any answer is greatly appreciated

Bulk reef supply tv just did a test using the primes, they were talking run uv's at 119% so I think your lfs is wrong. Good to watch if you find it

Running my Hydra 52 HDs (same LED pucks, but more of them) about 10" off the surface, and coral placement roughly 10" - 15 " under water surface, at a peak of 93%, and I'm thinking of upping the purples a bit more even though everything is doing great as is. I'm waiting for BRS 2 part to come in so that I can dose properly - before I start messing with intensity. But, I think once I do start dosing, I will see better/faster growth.

It all depends on your coral, and your particular settings to be honest with you. Some corals may have to be moved around till you find that sweet spot, but 20% is not the upper limit by any means, for UV anyway. brite white, ehh - you might want to keep that somewhat low, I've heard bad things like to grow at higher settings, and I think there's some truth to that. I keep mine ~ 30%. With a smaller tank (I have a 150G) that 20% upper limit is probably good.

Yup^^^^

That light will grow coral just fine at its native colors.
Uv (the fake black light we use ) is actually kinda untested. Or overdose effects are not widley documented.

If anyone has documentation, please let me know. I'm experimenting with mine now.

Just my 0.02 i run my 26hds at over 100%( blues) an uv at 80% and have never had an issue. I keep whites, reds, greens at my preference. Its really up to you but dont be afraid to ramp it up

Can't believe I haven't seen this video! I watch a lot of BFS. The numbers you'd referring to are for A SPS tune. I'm more in the LPS game lol lower numbers

It's an excellent video. After you watch it, go read Dana Riddles stickies here on corals and light and how the corals colors react to light Really takes you to another level. Once you have the flexibility, might as well use it.
