Well, that's kind of like asking "how much does a car cost?"... there's no way for us to answer such a vague question.

These questions will help narrow the answer down... even though you'll still get a lot of variance in the answers lol.
  • What are the tank dimensions?
  • At what height above the water line do you plan/hope to run the fixture at?
  • What corals are you keeping?
  • How far below the water line are these corals kept at?
  • What were your settings on the Prime and how were the corals doing?

Tank dimensions : 22,5 x 19,7 x 19,1
Height : will be 12 inches i guess based on a 18 inch flex arm
Mixed corals. Leathers, lps and very few easy to keep sps.

The ai prime runs at 25-30 watts at peak for about 6 hours.
Not getting that much growth but i guess thats why i had to upgrade to something better.

Your growth is low not because of the type of light. You'd have to be maxed out before you can say the light isn't good/stong enough. Do you feed corals? How stable are your parameters? Your light cycel is short. Are the corals in the best locations? Po4? Po3? What spectrum are you running? A lot of factors to think about before upgrading a light.

I feed reef roids 2 times a week

Current params
Ca 430
Mg 1395
Kh 8,5
No3 10ppm
Po4 0,03

Increase your light cycle to 8 hours. Acclimate slowly. Target feed mysis also. Do you run carbon? How clear is your water? I have 2 primes over my 29 I have to plenty of growth which results in me having to frag monthly.

I do not think you will see much of a difference with the hydra. Your light cycle now is short. Average is 8 hours some run 10-12 hours a day. You don't need more power you need longer light schedule and food. Good luck!

I dose alk every day manually. I have to 5ml to maintain 150ppm. Calcium I dose once a week to maintain 420ppm. I have lps, softies, sps, clam and nems. My set up works for me, and I have a lot more power left in the primes before I would need a hydra. So I'm saying before you spend money play around with the prime. Tank picture is old doesn't include my sps.

I think your tank looks great, how do have the rock attached to the back glass?

Thanks

I'll keep a eye in the sales forum. I'm still collecting pieces to setup my 60 gallon cube
