Hello

Does anyone know a way to upgrade the antenna in a AI prime led light. I need a better signal as the light keeps cutting out. I cannot move the router or alter anything that side of the story. I see it has a WiFi module and was wondering if the was a easy way to attach a bigger antenna to this. Any information or pics of this would be useful before I open the light up to see if it's worth trying something or not.

I have a WiFi extender, the problem is it is switching off when one extender from other end of the house is picked up by the light. This confuses the light and it switchs off as one is interfering with the other. A better antennae will stop this happening. There are 3 WiFi extender round the house and only the light is having the problem everything else works and has a good signal throughout the house.

Once its connected it should not automatically swap. I have a couple in my house also and never had this problem.

Hello

I have watched the wifi signal strengths with a app and you can see the signal from the WiFi extender (connected back to the router with cat 5 cable) about 1 metre from the tank which it is connected to is stable. Then you see the other WiFi extenders signal climb above the one it is connected to and the light switches of, this signal level then drops. I would think your signal levels are constant so you are not having the same issue. If I unplug the other extender the problem goes away but then don't have WiFi in that part of the house. I have put underfloor heating throughout my house and this has made signal levels through floors really bad the tank is upstairs and the floor blocks the signal from downstairs but this level swings from high to nothing.

Hello

Tubes has taken this thread of in a direction that has nothing to do with what I was asking. Along with tubes overt i have not had the issue so why should you it has not been very helpful. So back to the original question anyone have any knowledge about the WiFi unit in the light and how the aerial works.

To be clear WiFi extender is next to tank and moving it is not the fix. The fix is how to stop the 2 WiFi extenders interfering with each other. If anyone knows how to stop this or has info on the lights WiFi unit it would be appreciated.

First- In your original post you dont mention that you have extenders. So we started with that.

Next- when setting up the prime it ask you to connect to wifi and you have to choose which network you want to use. So unless they are all named the same thing and have the same pw there should be no issues.

The extenders that have all the the same preface so I know they are mine and not my neighbors then they are followed with a 1 2 or 3.

Just as on your cell phone if you have all the extenders programmed on your phone itll jump to the strongest signal. To fix that you only program the strongest signal to it.

To answer your question about the antenna your best bet would be to contact AI and ask them. I've never seen one around.

I hope this helps you more.

I've been using an AI Prime HD for 2 years now and once the schedule is programmed and the light is set to auto...it'll keep going on schedule whether I unplug it and plug it back in, or disable my router. Your light shouldn't be cutting out because of no wifi. I'd contact AI to see what's going on.
