So, just thought I would start a thread on ledS and SPS coral. I just recently got a solSuperBlue and so far like it but I've noticed some pinks/reds starting to fade a bit in color and become more brown. I've had it up for 2mo and the a lot of my corals are from MH tanks.
My blues and greens are doing fine although my yellow tort is turning radioactive green.

Was wondering if its just a phase due to the stress of corals changing to a different lighting spectrum and they will eventually color back up to a more vibrant color? Or should I add t5s maybe.

If anyone can post their success with LEDs (mainly AI SOL) and sps color. Please do.

Pics are awesome

Thanks.

I ran into the same problem with red. I switched one of my diy fixtures to warm white and added reds turquoise cool blue and violet and it has helped some but still have a hard time keeping bright red colors like mh. Maybe more warm whites would help but it hasn't affected coral growth.

I am starting to think its just te spectrum from the research I've done, and adding a couple t5s even purple+ and blue+ would help get a broader spectrum. But then a saw Stuart Bertram's from D-D 750g and he's running SOLs. Color looks fine. I've also ran into some threads after a couple months the LEDs tend to color back up. And that they brown due to the LED giving off about 95% more azoox due to spectrum then a MH 20k radium which gives 45%-60%. That's just what I read. Makes sense in a way though as azoox algae when you have a excess in te coral tends to turn the pigment under the corals skin more brown. I'm no expert so it could be BS but that's why I wanted to see if anyone has had te same problem and just kept the lights up and it slowly changed back to normal.

I also wanna add its ONLY my acros. Mainly my rosé Mille. My LPS and chalices look fantastic. And even my monties. green sps/yellow isn't to shabby either.
My pearlberry has held it's color well to. I hope it does as its only a frag.
