And yet another light question. I was going to get the AI SOLs till I came across the razor. I love the look of the razor, but am not sure how reliable it is. The older models had lots of complaints that I saw.

I am trying to do as few modules as possible cause the breakers where I live suck and trip to often. My tank is 84"x24"x24" I would like to be able to do a couple SPS even if I can only have them in 1 spot and other various corals.

Which fixture would be brighter? I also want a blueish look. Was thinking I could get away with 2 of the 160W razors as opposed to 3-4 of the AI SOLs. I have an aluminum brace smack dab in the center of the tank as well.

The Maxspect Razors have just started to ship out to customers this past week and there may be very few members who can share their experience with this light.

Looks like a nice LED option for the price point.

dont lwn a razor but i seen ome in action at lfs..looked nice, good color

When i first did LEDs i did the DIY way, i did like it and did a full spectrum, i no longer run it as I went back to t5's for the time being as i wait to see what happens with LEDS over the next year since they change so often, but IMO i would wait to see what the AI Vega looks like, will have full spectrum and i feel will be a very good choice if you are not worried about a bunch of cash, i have not seen the razor yet in person so i can not say but from pictures it looks nice, or you may see a drop in price on the ai sol too once the vega comes out, so if you have a little bit of time you may want to wait and see what comes out of the macna.

I have more seen the razor personally but was looking into it as I do feel it is very attractive but was turned off when I found out its only a 2moro channel system that does not allow few independent control of whites and blues but rather one panel our the other so only side to side

+1 on the razor being two channels myself that is not enough for customizability. I would wait for ai vega that releases later this month or the new mazerra x which will come out soon

I got tired of waiting and did the apollo. The Razr is a good pickup seeing that it might even be as powerful as the radion from what teh par readings are showing, but lack of features is what took me into a different route. But then again you get what you pay for.

Call the manufacturers like I did they only rate those fixtures for a 1x1 area or at least who I talked to stated. Your tank isnt real deep look into radions. I think it was atlantis aquariums that has a 800g dt that they have two 1000w and two 400w halides on one side and 11 radions on the other. They tried to match the spectrums of the two at 20k and so far they are seeing about the same growth and color eight months in. Radions are also rated to cover a 2x2' area so you save 50$ every two ft. Happy with my 3 on a 72" sps tank and mine is 24" deep and keeping clams and some sps on the sand. Remember though radions are meant to be hung lower than other leds so if you need lights mounted high they wont be the light for you. Read, read, read, and then read some more. You'll figure out whats right for your system. Good luck your in for a few headaches and late nights!

Look art the other thread going currently on these. The guy specifies you only need a 120w for every 24"x24"

4 ai sols will not light a 84" tank. Their spread sux as they have 60 degree optics. They penetrate deep but their coverage is horrible. They also are not full spectrum therefore if it's only the choice of the 2 I would say the razor however my strongest suggestion would be DIY Cree fixture!

I'm pretty sure AI sols have 40degree and 70degree optics not 60.
