Ai vega help

Trying to find some help with my vega set up. What % r people running theres at. I started at around 20% had to turn down because my sps was bleaching and my anemones were running from the light. I have 3 over my 210g. I have lost half my stuff. Was running 3 250w double end MH before. And everything was looking great with them. I changed to LEDs and now everything is bleaching. MH ran at 6hrs a day. And my vegas r set at 10-white/red/green. 30-blue. 35-royal. 40-deep. Lights turn on at 1-pm with a 2 hour ramp. And at 7 with a 2 hr ramp down. Please help.

As of last night.

Alk: 11
Cal: 480-500
Mg: 1300

Slowly getting my alk down was at 12. And cal as well. Phosphate r 0. Trates-0
Temp 77.

The day before i put the leds in alk was 9. Temp was 80-81. And it has been at that for over a yr steady. Then a week after the leds. Alk jumped to 12. And temp dropped over night to steady 77.

I would say that your problem is not your lights. It was your alk and temp swing. Alone either of these would have caused it so both happening at the same time is most likely your issue.

I love the color i have with them. And i had 3 250 w MH before. And changing to the vegas. Cut my electric bill by 120$ a month.

At first i didnt run the coral acl mode cus i thought i would be fine since i had so much light before. But once i started to kill corals. I set it up. My monti corals still look great. But its all my acros and deepwater as far as the corals go. And i have lost all 5 my anemones. 2 sweet roses. And a green that split a week before i changed to the vegs into 3. And one clam.

I have a feeling it is because of the change in temp and alk along with the stress of the lights that caused it all for me. Just trying to get info along if i am right by that thinking. Just when i changed to the leds is when everything went out of wack. So cant figure how my alk jumped that high that fast. When i was doesing the same amount as with the MH. And it goes in my auto top off and with the leds the auto top off is being used less. So i would have thought my alk would have dropped not jumped up from a 9-12 in like 3-4 days.

Ty. That helps me relax a lot and able to focus on the problem to fix. Im planning on getting my lvls to alk 9-10. Cal 440-470. And with the temp being lvl now i know that will be ok.

Any ideas on what % to have the lights? After the 1 month of coral acl i have set mine will be at.

W= 35%
Red= 20%
Green= 20%
Blue= 60%
Royal= 70%
D blue= 80%

Tank size and depth? Also how many fixtures and how high from the water surface are all going to play a role in determining percentages.

I think your percentages look pretty good for the tank described. I would just make sure to use coral acclimation mode while everything gets used to the new lights.

Your Vega controller has a coral acclimation setting. I would suggest that you use this first.
My settings are:
W - 30
R - 30
G - 100
All blues at 100%
7:30 A.M to 5 P.M. with a 3 hour ramp time.
Note: My tank is 34" deep. You may want to run your blues at 75 or 80%

if i might chime in here. WOW! what should I set my Vegas at so I dont fry my corals?! I have none yet but plan on LPS and SPS. My tank is 42 x 24 x 20 so tank height is 20 inches and my Vegas (#2) are 10 inches above water line. I would greatly appreciate input. SHould I raise my Vegas? I have things all set on 40% (LOL) and lights come on at 7am with 1 hr ramp up and go off at 5pm with 1 hr ramp down. Please let me know fellow reefer peeps!!

From what i have been told here and LFS. The setting i have r good. I just made some key mistakes in rushing and not checking everything. I didnt put into mind that with the diff lights my levels would change as much as they did. Still not sure how my alk got as high as it did..... But my problem looks like it was caused by my alk jumping up so high. My temp dropping. And diff lights. And i was focused thinking it was the lights cus it all happened at tge same time.

The one thing im not sure on is will i have to go through the corsl aclimation mode every time i get new corals.

No. Just start your new corals down low and slowly move them up.

3-12 with a 1 hour ramp i started everything about 5 percent less 2 months ago for me it was really more about coral placement with led. meaning my bazooka joe is right next to my superman and sunset monti and everything looks happy. it took me forever to get the bazooka joe lookin good until i placed it here .....which is the last place i would have thought it should go!

Yea i have noticed strange placements for some of my coral that is comming back. Things i thought should be high r liking low. And things that were low r liking high.
