So I have a pair of AI Vegas and no controller for them, which initially I thought wasn’t an issue considering they have that little red button on the back to turn the brightness down or up, but I quickly realized that when my reef keeper shuts off the light for the night, it’s resetting the light intensity. So when it’s switched on for the day, it’s at 100% intensity.
I’m not really sure what to do when I can’t find a controller to purchase online.

Call AquaIlluminations.....or enjoy 100% :)

Folks used halides and T5's "at 100%" for all of reefing's history, so you're not really facing anything new. :) :) :)

Pretend the Vega's are halides and adjust the amount of hours they're on to compensate (if needed) for the added intensity. Acclimation = running the lights for only 2-3 hours a day and then adding an hour or so to the schedule every week or so until you're back to normal.

The only "downside" is that the lifetime of the Vega's may be shortened if they RUN HOT at 100%. This may or may not be the case, depending on the cooling. Again I'd ask AquaIlluminations.

Good luck!

My only issue with that is, one of the Vegas is currently sitting about 6 inches above a 7 gallon tank and the intensity is just way too strong on 100%. In a way that I can’t even look at it without eye pain.

LOL....you're right that's pretty extreme. Still might be fine, technically. But practically speaking it's surely overkill. ;)

If you want dimming – at least as far as I know – you'll have to call AI to see what options they can offer.

(Have you already looked for old hack threads to see if anyone has jimmied a manual control onto it or something else?)

I am trying to find a new controller since mine keeps cutting off. Lights stay wherever they are when it stops. Anyone know of a wireless workaround with these lights? they have been good for my tank and we all know LED's last a long time.
