I need help. I have the four Vegas installed on my 180. They have been working great up until a few days ago. I have one fixture that keeps cycling off and on. About every 5 minutes. Has anyone else had this problem with theirs? Its also the end of the tank where my nem is, so it needs light! I have went back to factory settings and re-programmed the whole thing. It still didn't help. Any ideas?

Sounds like the light or power supply is overheating

Yes, the fixture was overheating. I added a little $5 fan from Walmart to circulate the air better under the canopy and they are running fine now. Thanks!

Vegas

Installed 3 Vegas in my 180 last night. Installed in canopy, 4.5 inches from water line. Very easy and no problems with cintroller at all.
I need to work on light color intensities.
What have other reefers been setting their intensities at?

Just LEDs

LED and T5

Well, how do you like them now after you're had them 6 weeks or so? Better yet, how does the coral like them?

Vegas

So far I like them. I like the dimming features on LEDs for sunrise and sunset. To be honest, I am not sure how well the coral like them so far. I have them on acclimation mode so I am ramping up the intensity over time. I have only had them up for 2 weeks

Yeah, but you've only had yours for a week or so. I doubt if you can tell much about how the corals like it yet. I was wondering about Connie's since she's had hers for about 6 weeks.

I have set my controller to replicate dawn to dusk, with no small amount of trouble I tell you!. I was back and forth with AI trying to figure it out.
I have lowered the maximum on the white to 75% because I was having some bleaching problems
I wish I had a little better spread but with my hood design I can't raise the lights any higher.

What does everyone else think of theirs and what are your intensities?

Mine are:
White 45%
Blue, Royal Blue, Deep Blue: 55%
Red: 35%
Green: 35%

All corals are happy and growing.

MIne is 32 inches deep and i have the Sol super Blues, and the coral love it, I am so glad you posted this because now i am going with vega for the next 6. Thanks for the post and info.

DO you have SPS? I currently have 3 Vegas and I am concerned about my SPS since I switched over MH\T5

Yes I have 18 different pieces of sps in my tank.

I did find that running the red and green at 50% of the power of your white works well. I adjusted down to 25% on red and green a few days ago and bumped the white to 50%. Corals all look happy and a few of the upper acropora have increased polyp extension. May or may not be related but I'm taking it as a positive. All SPS colors are great.

Harry, I'm so sorry I haven't replied to your question! I am computer challenged and just happened to run across it for the first time. The corals are happy now, but in the beginning it took a while. I had them up too high. I cut them back down to 40% and then increased weekly by 3 - 5%. They do make a big difference. I've only used T5's before these, so I don't have much to compare them to. I did have a problem with overheating...turns out I had two faulty fans. Their customer service is great. They sent replacements and everything is fine now.

Great, glad you're happy with them!
