I’ve got a 13.5g fluval which is SPS dominant running an AI prime HD. I dose kalk to keep alk and CA stable. I initially was running the saxby preset, but my sps (acros, Montis, birdsnests) started to brown out.

I had an issue with Dino’s which required me to do a 2 day blackout, and then I ran only blue, royal blue, and UV on my light. I noticed my sps colors start to return and now they pop way more. My question is how much white light is really necessary for consistent growth? I think I have whites on max of 8 right now. Much more than 15 starts to wash them out.

I keep mine at 35% white. But your tank is shallower than mine so not sure that number is remotely useful.

Browned out acros could be a nutrient sign, not a light one though. What are your n and p after the dinos?

I agree with this. My eyes and corals do not like whites higher than 15 either but you could have a water chemistry issue. But heres my schedule anyway

I’m using the ab+ from BRS and my white is 19 at peak

Per Red Sea research, corals mainly only use the 380-460nm spectrum. Whites are just a bonus. I currently run my whites at 10% with no reds or greens.
