Hi All,

I am upgrading my 10G display that has been thriving for over 2 years, I purchased a 40B and added the fiji cube AIO kit. I will also be adding a refugium under the stand, i want to use the fiji cube 600 gph overflow to feed the fuge.

see below, this is my 2 year old 10G sumpless play in desperate need of more real estate

This is a PDF sketch of what i plan to do for the new display,

I would like to know if this would work as drawn, the overflow will be 1" and the return !/2" and will be using a 500GPH DC adjustable pump , also, I really do not want to do away with the AIO as my main filtration source and I would like to have a stand alone refugium.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated IMG_2569.JPG IMG_2568.JPG

This is cool! I haven’t seen a 40g breeder turned into an AIO. FWIW, if you’re already going to plumb a refugium below, have you thought about doing a full sump instead? That would give you more space in the display tank. Here’s my 40g breeder setup with a 20g tall sump. Ask a lot of questions here. We all want to help!

Thank you for the reply, I did think about the whole sump idea but it would be too crammed and i like the ease of maintenance i can get with the AIO and i don't run a skimmer, Also the cabinet i am building will only allow a standard 10G sump because i am including a large draw for supplies and a slide out work table.

This design will also allow me to completely remove the refugium if needed.

This is the 40B AOI kit from Fiji cube below:

Any updates? I didn't know that you could drop in that kit and basically make your 40 breeder into an all in one unit! that's pretty cool, i'm curious how well it's working out for you. I have a 40 breeder with an overflow but it just goes into a 5 gallon bucket, gets cleaned because it goes through a filter sock before going into the bucket, and then gets pumped back up into the tank. Im seriously thinking about modifying my tank to accomodate that all in one unit! =)

oops...doublepost, don't know how to delete this one.

Its not installed yet but yes, its basically a drop in unit that comes with magnets to keep in place or you can just silicone it in with API or other aquarium safe product. You will need to purchase a pump with this kit. I will update with pics when i install... i am finishing up the stand right now.

Hi, Hows the 40G doing? I have been procrastinating on the 40 build for almost 4 yrs ( i know). Still have my 20gal nano thriving for 8 years now. I have the 40 gallon tank still in my garage and came across this forum. Your set up is exactly what i want to do. So far as for the plumbing, im looking into the Eshopps eclipse M with a 20 gallon sump. Brain storming now a DIY Stand. Any recommendation that you would do different? I reside in miami as well!

This post is some years old, and I don't know if the OP will see this. You may want to start your own post so more people are likely to see it.

In my opinion, I think the OP should have just done a sump under the tank, and not bothered with the AIO drop in as well. A sump can be simple, does not require a skimmer, and also has room for a 'fuge. I am personally looking to start a 40B with an AIO drop in, but only because I can't fit a sump under this particular tank.

FijiCube (and others too), who made the OP's AIO drop in kit, also sells a kit to convert a standard tank into a sump. Maybe this is an option for you:

Good luck!

Hey thanks for the reply. This is a option, need a simple set and forget system.
