AIO - 40gal - Help improve my filtration

So I have a Nuvo 40 gallon all in one tank. I added a small power head to blow the detritus from behind the rock work. I have another mp10 on reef crest mode at 100%. I use a turkey baster to blow the rock off a couple times a week. In the back chambers I have the marine pure bio balls, with some filter floss type stuff on top of that. My phosphates are at .03 and my nitrates at 5ppm. Every time I turkey baste the rock work it seems like there is sooooo much detritus. No sand bed. I also keep struggling with cyano. I’ve used vibrant with success but the algae keeps coming back after the tank looks great for a couple of weeks. My tank has been up about 18 months. The parameters are good, but as soon as I added acros, they all died. Idk what to do!!!! Why am I so bad at this hobby. Any suggestions would be great.

This hobby is hard, It makes a lot of us feel like we are bad at it lol. Your phosphates and nitrates look great, I think your "filters" are fine. Detritus isnt really a problem unless you are struggling to keep no3 and po4 down, so i wouldnt worry about it.

As for the acros, you need to look at alk, ca, lighting, flow etc. Everything has to be on point to be successful with them.
