Hello r2r I am new to reef keeping and wanted to share my current build.
  • Nuvo 40
  • 1 custom caddy media basket
  • 1 custom caddy for a refugium
  • IM magnafuge light
  • 2 IM midsize reactors
  • IM midsize dc protein skimmer
  • Might jet 538g return pump (upgrading soon)
  • Finnex 150 watt titanium heater
  • Nero 5 wave pump
  • Tunze 3155 ato
  • Red Sea 90 led
I’ve been doing research and I feel like what I got will run my tank successfully. Tank will be filled with water in around 2 weeks still finishing the stand and waiting for some test kits and some other small necessities.
Any recommendations on which media to use for both reactors. I was thinking of using one reactor for gfo and the other for rox carbon. And plan to use one of the media baskets as a redugium and the other was planning to add filter floss and the rest seachem pond matrix. Any recommendations that will preform better will be greatly appreciated I’m new to the hobby and want nothing but success

Welcome. :)

Sounds like great beginnings.

What type corals are you planning?

Thanks, I plan to keep some easy to keep corals. I really like zoas and torches but plan to do some frogspawn and maybe a hammer

Looks like a very nice setup. I’ve got the Nuvo 30l, great tank. Oh, and if you’re hoping for nothing but success, I’d recommend exercising utmost patience.
Yes I been really patient. I have been doing some research for a couple months reading books on reef keeping and going around my LFS for tips on keeping a reef.
