AIO Design - Input Needed

I for one really like it and think you have created a very well thought out improvement of the standard offering. The two possibly alternating flow DC Return Pumps for better random flow is also quite unique. Looking forward to seeing this in action here.

Cheers, Todd

Thanks, Todd. I am trying to make it as perfect as possible then send it to a vendor to make.

Nice design. Very clean and simple (the best way for almost anything). Making those media buckets would be the only real challenge here but it could easily be tackled. Interesting...

Thanks for replying. Simple is always the best way. That's my goal with this tank. The media buckets would best be made through a 3D printer which I find there are a lot available in my new area.

I thought this one might catch your eye Eric, thanks for chiming in bud. I was thinking the same and have been trying to come up in my mind with something already manufactured and ready to incorporate into this design. The only thing I've found so far is commercial style drain screens/baskets but they are all stainless steel or chromed brass in construction.
Eric, ^above^ a good friend of mine is in the 'Glass Business' and a licensed builder of Glass and Acrylic Aquariums and just maybe you two could be of benefit to one another ???

Cheers, Todd

Funny I was thinking the same thing Todd about using strainers as the baskets. Maybe even something as simple and inexpensive as bulkhead strainers??? I think something could be worked out without using the 3D printer as last time I checked the material to print something of these in size is pretty high but admittedly it has been a while since I checked.

I've searched as well for any "strainers" that would come close to specifications but there aren't any. The biggest thing were the hole sizes which would not support some of the more popular choice of media. Yeah I could benefit but it sucks he is the opposite end of the country.

I thought about bulkhead strainers as well. It, too, present the "hole size" issue, you would have to use multiple, and constant unscrewing to remove them would be a hassle (over time) when doing maintenance. The only option available is the 3D printing. I will gather quotes from local companies to see. This is one of my few designs that I have been toying with. I guess I will have to go back to the drawing board and develop an alternate just in case.

Very cool design!! I would buy it!! :)

love the overflow media setup! have to agree, a great design for an AIO!

I have a question are you gonna have some sort of filter material on top of those baskets. I ask because if not the may get filled with large debris and render then and the media useless

Paragraph above the last two images states the media layout.

Quick answer:

*Top Buckets: Filter floss or sponge filter
*Bottom Bucket: Your choice of media. ex. The media bucket can be two levels to separate media. You can purigen on the top level and GFO mixed with carbon on the bottom portion of that bucket.
