AIO jar?

Hi everyone! I was thinking of setting up an All in one tank in a 1 gallon jar. I would divide off about 1/3 of the jar with an opaque mesh and put an 80 GPH adjustable pump back there, in addition to a bunch of media (carbon, maybe phosphate and nitrate removing media, maybe live rock). In the front I would have some live rock, maybe live sand, and some corals and perhaps macroalgae (I'd skip the phosphate and nitrate removing media if I had macroalgae). How would this work? Thanks

I don’t think the mesh would be a affective way on separating the two

Hmmm...what would you suggest then? Maybe a homemade tank divider? Should I seek a more rectangular tank?
