Hi guys and girls, i'm just in the process of setting up my first saltwater tank. Upon doing a leak test I noticed that some of the baffles in the rear compartment of the AIO don't touch the bottom of the tank and allow water to pass under them instead of over, is this going to be a problem and if so what would be the best way to solve it? Thanks:)

If there is a hole/space under the baffles, then that the way the water is supposed to flow. I bet you have too much water so water is going over the baffles when it shouldn't.

Thanks for your response, I have only filled the rear chamber up 2" and It has worked its way through all of the chambers and into the return section, surely this is going to allow water to pass through without it being filtered effectively?

It is an aquamanta nano 60, I believe it is exclusive for Maidenhead Aquatics in the UK

I'm not familiar with that tank, but I've got a couple AIOs, Red Sea Max, and IM Fusion 20. Both of these tanks allow water to pass under the baffles in the back compartment. It's part of the design of the filtration system. I've had a fish jump in the back and it was very difficult to get it out due to those baffles.

FWIW this is a site I found with some information on that tank.

Ah ha, so if we are looking at the picture that shows the rear compartment, on the baffle between chamber 2 and 3, and then 4 and the return section, water is intended to pass over these, however there is a gap of approx. 3mm which allows water to pass under. Is this going to greatly reduce the filtration seen as water can pass under rather than going over and through media?

what are you planning to put in that large open chamber?

I would seal the bottom of 2 and 3for sure.

I was planning on putting the tunze comline DOC 9001 skimmer in the large chamber, I've been planning upgrades and all sorts for a while and can't wait to get started, just got this tank as an introductory step into saltwater as I have had a freshwater tank for roughly 7/8 years and always wanted saltwater haha :D

Hi there, I have try aquamanta 90 and I was to confused regarding the compartments, stupidly I was using the pump that came with the tank so the water levels were all the same at the back but now I’ve bought a new pump I’m finding the 1st chamber is the highest then down a inch to the next and another inch to the one with the pump, the water flow is perfect now. Can see it flowing up and down.

What upgraded pump did u use

I would not alter the baffles. It makes sense to me, except the numbering, which they are no good with any way. What happened to five. I know 7, 8, 9, but five should be ok?

Water is drawn in through 1a, and 1b, under the baffle to 3, then up through 2 to the large chamber, then over the next baffle down to six (poor 5) up to 6 and out of 4.

Certainly upgrade the pump, but don't block that lower baffle below 1b and 2, and please... Pray for 5.
