Happy Thanksgiving everyone! So I was browsing around various sites, and found this:

Mini dartfish... just wondering if anyone has seen or kept these little guys.

I want some of these for our traveling tank. Cannot find them sold though. Yes, they need lots of live food, I hope to train them to some frozen though.

Hey, eatbreakfast, know of anywhere to find em?

I'm making a microtope (6x9x6 w/o overflow) and it would be kinda cool to see these guys... or is there some new embargo?

I tried last year with a vendor, but they did not come in. I am hoping to try again this coming year. I think they will be special order no matter what. No-one wants to pay for such a small fish with short lifespan. :) Except us crazy people.

Microtope sounds fun. Mine would be in a 6g little tank or in a 18g if our larger traveling tank gets done. Let me know if you find them.

Yeah, you ever see any of those exotic nano dartfish? They're really cool, but I believe most are embargoed or prohibited.
Microtope... here you are, put together glass and everything:

it has been fun, I suppose, but I'm anxious thinking about what's gonna go in; thinking dragon breath macro and softies.

I had them for a while (a few years ago) and they just need to eat so much that they are basically walking dead by the time they get to the LFS cause they don't get fed properly through the supply chain. I was able to keep the few that were not already too starved by using an auto feeder that fed live enriched baby brine shrimp and other copepods about 8 times a day during daylight hours. They will not train to frozen food at all. I tried cyclopeeze, ova, and frozen baby brine. I even froze a bunch of copepods that they were eating live and they wouldn't touch it. Unless you're prepared to lose a lot of them and to feed more than 3-4 times a day, I recommend you stay away. Unfortunately, theres a reason you never see them in tanks or at LFSs.

Yep, I guess that's just how nature works =].

Some stores will tranship fish directly from the collection location. Sourcing a store that does this will significantly add to success with them. That's how I got the group I had. The ones I had took frozen baby brine.

Cool. I guess there are ways, but most of us probably cannot do it. I have autofeeders and grow my own baby brine and rotifers, so that is not a problem. Just would hate for them to travel and starve. Poor babies.

Well, I suppose green banded or masked or tiger gobies would be best- or jaguars, for that matter.

I had masked, they are cool too. Just love the idea of the swimming, not perching gobies. :)

This was 3 yrs ago and they are gone. They do not have long lives. I will see when I get on my computer if I have pics.
