Ok so I have a mantis tank, that gets light from my bedroom ceiling fan for about 4 hours a day. The mantis is happy, living in what I call the dead reef.

But lo and behold aiptasia!!!! Not even algae can grow in this tank..... it’s been up since January with NO LIGHT!!!

I am going to leave it in the tank, because it’s earned it’s right lol.

they are quite cool to look at, just as long as it does become a pest and cause any harm
Yea, this tank will never see coral... this is the mantis killing ground.

But holy cow... it doesn’t even need light to live... no wonder once it’s in a reef there’s no getting it out... crazy.

True. Prob end up slipping and falling. Lol. Dreaded aptasia. Slippery little suckers. When their wet of course. Burn it with fire!

Even the so called mantis shrimp boarded up his house.

I found some in my cryptic zone in my sump. Total darkness.

Reefing rules #1 nothing beautiful is resilient. This is what I have learned so far. This sets it in stone lol

Not photosynthetic I am guessing. it won't be harmful to the mantis.

There is a member on another forum who keeps a tank dedicated to aiptasia :)
Got a link? That would be interesting to see.

That is CRAZY

“No pumps, no heaters, no protein skimmers, just a walmart purchased white led indoor lighting 75 watt equivalent and a 10 gallon aquariums”

100% indestructible! Thanks for sharing, that made my day lol!

We emptied an infested tank and then refilled it with tap water (tank had to stay in place till it found a new home), it’s been a few months, plenty of the aiptasia still alive
No salt?
