For background, I'm an science teacher who inherited an aquarium and an oceanography class. I've recently taken a more active stance towards my aquarium, and realized that I had a problem with Aiptasia anemones. After asking some advice, I decided to get a 2-for-1 solution; our class dissected the anemones today! I cut the anemones off the rock as well as I could, and most of my class studied those, while one or two students helped me burn the bases so (hopefully) they won't come back. The students enjoyed getting to dissect something, even though it was the "ickiest lab ever".

I still have an algae problem, but hopefully my tank is on its way to health!
