I tried so hard to get decent pictures, but they look terrible. Anyway, I have several of these "things" in my corner overflow. They almost look like polyps, but they appear in random places near the bottom of the overflow, so they don't act like polyps. I keep my overflow dark on purpose to prevent algae growth, so I'm wondering if they're random aiptasia that aren't getting any light. They really don't look like aiptasia, but I'm wondering if that's because of the lack of light. I do have a little bit of light at the top of my overflow, so you'd think if they were aiptasia, they'd be moving up towards the light, but they are all relatively close to the bottom. I haven't noticed any aiptasia in my DT. Any ideas? Should I try to get them out (which wouldn't be
easy). Just keep an eye on them? Sorry for the bad pictures, but I tried!

Thats aiptasia. They actually can and do live in darkness if there if sufficient food. Guess where all uneaten fish food goes? ..right there..

Thanks, that's what I feared. I don't overfeed, but it makes sense that uneaten food is still going to head into the overflow. What would you do? I used berghia nudibranches years ago with success (or so I thought). I haven't noticed any in my DT. Should I just leave things alone for now or be more proactive?

I have them and do nothing. When I clean the standpipes I’ll nuke them but otherwise with the water flowing down I assume they’ll go into the sump not display. Filter socks then catch any loose ones. It’s never been an issue.

Based on my experiences I will never ever disturb Aipstaia again. For about 4 years I had the occasional 2-3 around rock work in my 300G and some in my overflows. My tank is very full of coral so I haven't bought any in a while and don't plan to for a bit until I decide to cut back my existing ones someday...

Got the dumb idea to hit one with Aipstasia X, landed a perfect hit and it looked like it died and withered up instantly with a mouth full of this stuff. Mission success! NOPE

About 1 week later I probably had 400+ growing all in my SPS colonies, overflows, sump, rocks even back wall. EVERYWHERE. $300 worth of nudibranchs and 3 months later they are all gone thankfully. Lesson learned!

Not uncommon. Using a syringe , inject Kalkwasser mixed into a runny paste into their cores and they will melt away

Did you consider putting nudibranch in the overflow? I have some ordered, but that's where I see most aiptasia growing... Don't know whether this would be death sentence for nudibrach or Garden of Eden??

How did it go? I just discovered a nightmare scape of aiptasia in my overflow…….
