Aiptasia issue

Just an FYI, the Boiling water trick worked... No more Aiptasia in my overflow and never saw or see any in my DT

You can get those on ebay but I strongly advise against them. You can blind yourself in an instant. You can also blind your fish or any eye that gets hit with the beam including from a reflection. At the least get a pair of matched glasses to go with it that are designed to filter out the light that your particular laser puts out. These can be very dangerous.

Shut the return down once water is lower than the overflow then empty that section and fill that sucker with boiling water.
watch your water temp as I don't know the size of your tank.
once it cools down drain that overflow section and fire your tank back up :)

I have also heard of shutting all pumps off. And closing drain lines and then nuking the overflows with kalk for several hours. Then pull the drains out of the bulkheads to drain out into buckets Then reinstalling and top off with fresh saltwater.
