There's this clam at a LFS, it's really nice and I want it, however, it has aptatsia on it. at least 5-7 stalks of it.

If I could negotiate to get the price down because of it, what would be the best way to remove the pests from the clam's shell?

I doubt they will lower the price bc of aiptasia lol
agreed lol
You could use a small diameter tubing, like 1/4" from lowes, and cover it then as its covered, press down and scrape the stalk off. Youll want to do this outside the DT just in case any spores get released.

or get a peppermint shrimp. worked really well for me :)

Thanks :) They're usually good at haggling on corals. I got an $80 rainbow acan for $20.. I think I can get some $ off.

Just wondering if it's worth the hassle and risk.. I don't want to hurt the clam, yet I don't want to risk getting anything into the DT either.

I hear Peppermint shrimps are a hit or miss with them. I do like them though, had some in my old tank!

Seems like scraping off would be my best bet if I decide to get it

Pep's can be hit or miss, I bought two for this very reason and they decided that frogspawn was more tasty than aiptasia

I'd say pluck off the aiptasia in a small container or bucket of saltwater then dunk the clam a few times in some fresh salt water. if you're that worried about it you can always wait for another clam.
