I recently discovered a handful of small anemones on my zoanthid colony, and the stingers make me think aiptasia but I'm not sure. They don't seem to react to light and the zoas aren't bothered what-so-ever. They also react when touched but don't seem as sensitive as aiptasia I've seen in the past.

hi ,not good, hopefully you can chip off edge of rock ,to remove if poss,be aware palytoxin;):)

Any chance of a better pic? It kinda resembles a tube nem or yellow polyps as mentioned before

I'll take some more pictures later as requested but some things strike me as odd if they are aiptasia:
There is a group of 5 or 6 only in that one isolated spot that are all the exact same height.
The anemone has more of a bell shape from base to mouth rather than the usual umbrella shape
The anemone is a clear/whitish with silver splotches on the base

You can see what I mean with the size, coloration, and shape right? I'm not crazy?

Obviously mine are much larger than yours. Rid them of your tank or be like me. Almost $600 into this problem that started small 7 months ago from a single frag. After I add berghias ill be close to 800! Act fast or deal with big headaches later.

yep, aips for sure. I shut down a 180 gal tank because of them. Went from 2 to hundreds in about 6 mos. If it were me, I would just throw the coral, frag rock...whatever they are on...in the trash. Not worth saving one coral for the headache aips cause. I bought a file fish to eat them - worked great! Once the aips were gone the file fish ate all of my coral. I got rid of the file fish and the aips came right back.
