There is what appears to be a feather duster looking creature in the middle of a Zoanthid colony. Can someone please help me out here on what this is? There are actually 3 of them. Thanks in advance.

Here is the photo. Thanks

Post a picture and we can help. :)

This is an aiptasia:

Ooops... looks like we posted at the same time :)

That's hard to tell from that picture. Can you get one less blue and closer?

It does not look like a feather duster.

I will try when I get home. Thanks for your help.

They are tiny small brown tubes looking like sticks. The stick portion does not move at all.

That may very well be a bigger version of what I have. When the Zoa polyps retract you can see really see the tiny brown firm tubes

That's actually quite tiny, it is just zoomed in. Do some google image searches for aiptasia, hydroid, and feather duster worm and compare :)

Another great resource is Lion Fish Lair's website: https://www.lionfishlair.com/

Feather duster;)

If they are feather dusters is that an issue? I have seen mixed reviews when they are in a Zoa colony. Thanks again.

If it is a feather duster there’s nothing to worry about. Their good filter feeders.

Thanks to everyone for such quick responses. I am new to the forum. I will try to get a better pic a little later.
