Aiptasia or Me, At wits end.

I have used peppermints with fantastic results, but only after my Pseudochromis aldabraensis disappeared. He ate peppermint shrimp like, well, peppermints. Without the dottyback the shrimp do a great job and I've never seen one bother LPS or SPS. The shrimp hide in the rocks most of the time.. If you have a fish that eats small inverts, these aren't for you.

Another vote for peppermint shrimp. Just get a couple from different vendors and never worry about aiptasia again.

another vote for Peppermints

BUT in my case they eat only the small aiptasia, once the aiptasia got to big NOTHING would touch it.

so you keep the Peppermints, to take acre of any new aiptasia, but BLAST the bigger aiptasia with kalk paste.

be careful with the Kalk paste though ...

Majano wand will solve your problem! It’s a little bit costly about $129 at marine depot. Hope that will help. Good luck [emoji106]

I used the nudis with good results. I still find a few here and there but take care of them when I see them.
Also, do a search on here for "F aptasia". New product with promising results. There is a whole thread on it with people results being posted.

Definitely berghia. It takes patience and about two months. Then one day all gone. Never saw the berghia to catch them :(

I had a few small ones and two big ones. I got Peppermint Shrimp from LA. All the small ones are gone but the two big ones are still around but I kinda like them. Just as long as the Peps keep killing the babies I'll leave the big ones alone.

My saga started with the decision to leave a big one alone. It ended up getting about 4-5 inches from foot to tips and had a disk about an inch across. It was impressive to look at. At first it was manageable but eventually it got the point where I was going through a bottle of Aiptasia X a week and not keeping up. I had a triggerfish in the tank so peppermint shrimp were not an option although in retrospect, I probably could have put the trigger in QT and tried it. I don't think it would have worked, at the end I had hundreds if not thousands of them. They were growing in the sandbed, on the glass and in my cannister filter tubes.

I ended up bleaching my live rock and running pure RO/DI in my display tank for a month while I cycled my live rock with ammonia in a bucket. My triggerfish died while it was QT. Then my DT dealt with a huge algae problem for several months after I reintroduced the live rock. It was awful.
