Hey guys, newbie here. Just want to confirm which this is? TIA!

Aptasia- simple method to removal is to use lemon juice or better yet, Kalkwasser powder mixed into a paste and inject into center core of the aptasia via syringe and watch it melt away

Ok, couple more for you just to confirm. Whelk and a good pod? Thanks again!

Looks like a Cirolanid Isopod IMO— I wouldn’t risk reintroducing it to the tank. Many are obligate parasites

Thanks for the response. Caught several night before last but only this one last night. Disposed of the others will do same with this one.

question for anyone who may know. Do wrasses or dragonet target pods and thus might control Cirolanids?

I’d imagine Cirolanids would be too big for dragonets. Wrasses on the other hand rarely turn down a crustacean snack!

Ok in need of the experts again :) I’m thinking this is bubble tip neme but wanted to confirm. TIA 6EC37343-20DB-48FA-AE70-F01900909940.jpeg

Nice looking gulf live rock. Where did you get it from?

I use gulf live rock too and have gotten two of these little bulb nems, but mine have disappeared not sure if they moved or just didn't live long.

^ correct, they're not Entacmaea quadricolor. They're nicknamed "light bulb anemones" but I'm not sure what they're actually called. They're an occasional hitchhiker on gulf live rock.

Not much info out there on them but yeah that seems right. They're kind of cool, I don't see anybody selling them though. They must not be very desirable.

Thanks. This particular rock came from Dan at Gulf Live Rock. Very happy with it so far, just dealing with a few bad hitchhikers here and there but that was expected when I decided to go with live rock. Interesting about your nems. I will keep an eye on it and see what happens.

@LRT what kind of nem came on your gulf rock? Was it a rock flower? Carpet nem? Wondering if this is the same thing you have

Just take the rock out and cook the Aptasia with a blow torch hahaha. Ive only ever found two in my tank.
