I am not sure if I should spring for bergia nudibranch or try filefish. I have tried aiptasia x, kalkwasser and vinegar but with too many of them I am unable to keep up. I only have a 20 gallon so if i get a filefish I would probably sell when it gets bigger. What would you all recommend. TIA Rich

I would look at replacing the water since it is a 20 gallon like 5 gallons every other day so you don't shock the rest of the inhabitants. I would also suggest keep going at them with aiptasia x, it does work but have to be patient for results.

I learned awhile back that when I tried to kill them all it caused so much toxicities that all my fish died

Put in a dozen peppermint shrimp if you can swing it. It will take them a while to get going but my 180 has been aiptasia free for a long time. They will also spawn on you as well. About a zero.zero percent chance of raising them but it does provide excellent natural coral and fish food.

How do I know if my lfs sells the correct peppermint shrimps. I have a couple in my tank now and they never eat them

It depends on what is in your tank. I would go with the nudi's in such a small tank unless your have a wrasse or other pickie type fish. Once aiptasia are gone you will need to re-home them since they only eat aiptasia.
Peppermints work. You will have to help kill the bigger ones for them and they will take care of the rest. Once the aiptasia are gone either trap them or leave them. If there is no aiptasia left to eat they will eat other frozen foods and can take a liking to duncans and frogspawn

I would stay away from the file fish if you have zoas or any corals with small tentacles. My file fish took care of all the manjano but then was secretly killing my zoas. He has been re-homed.

I guess i will retry aiptasia x and then if not get nudis thanks

I just used Aptasia X this morning on about 8 aptasias. I followed the directions and then did a 15 gal water change on a 75 water volume reef. So far, so good. No affect in nearby corals and the aptasia are not visible. I will keep you posted, after all, its only been a few hours. Fingers crossed!
