Aiptasia problem

I’ve got 2 before. They didn’t do anything for me. How many do you recommend?
You’ll need to wait for them to reproduce to make an impact on aiptasia

That’s a good option. Just so worried to put a butterfly/ filefish in my tank
filefish are fine and those butterfly’s are not adapted to eat coral. I’ve never heard of issues with butterfly’s and have seen them in coral reef tanks. I had a filefish in mine fro the longest time and never had an issue personally. I’ve also seen filefish in coral tanks too. I understand the stigma and ultimately the choice is yours. Copper and will do a better job of eating Aiptasia and filefish will do a better job of controlling potential outbreaks.
Here is a great example of a filefish in a mixed reef eating Aiptasia.

Clarify (copperband butterfly’s)

With Aiptasia X you have to make sure you get the paste/liquid into the center of the aiptasia because if not I heard it released more little babies and multiplies. You have to go swift and fast. Plus if you dont get all the aiptasia then of course its going to come back. So maybe your missing some under a rock or in the back of the tank or in the sump. I am on week 3 of killing aiptasia and it seems to work for me. Now I am at the point of if I see one I automatically kill it.

If that does not work Berghia Nudibranch's (Not sure if spelt correctly) will do the job for the small ones you cannot get too. Peppermint Shrimp are a hit and miss with aiptasia.

I used aiptasia x and it made them spread.

what worked for me is F-aiptasia. It solidifies over the aiptasia and prevents spread. You can just suction it out or blow it off the rock a few weeks later. You do need to be careful and keep it from dropping on your coral.

I move the rock as needed so it has a level place to solidify on top of the aiptasia.

What would you do? Filefish or kleini butterfly?

I watched the BRS video on how to remove them, I only had one visible. I entombed it in Aiptasia-X and let that sit. I think I had the benefit of it somehow being attached through the sand and under the rock. Everything BRS said was to use the X and then put epoxy/putty over the hole it recedes into.

I used aptasia X to get my numbers down. Then added a couple peppermint shrimp to finish the job. I do not recommend a filefish. Mine ate a 5yr old acan colony.

I’ve had Aiptasia for as long as I can recall. It’s been under control but started to get annoying. I tried Berghia Nidubranches without any success to eradicate completely.

That cost a lot of money for something that now if you ask me, is not the best solution and cost way too much to get the job done.

Finally put a Marginalis Butterfly through full QT and let’s just saw it’s been in the tank for less than two weeks and the Aiptasia is either hiding extremely well or it’s almost done the job. I know it’a eating it because I feed it some in QT.
