Aiptasia Risk from Gifted Corals

Hi all,

A question about aiptasia. Today, a friend linked me up with another reefer in my city, and that person has offered to give me a couple of frags from his tank for free to help fill out my new tank. I'm very excited at the prospect, however he also warned me that he's dealing with some aiptasia in his system.

From the photos he's shown, the outbreak doesn't seem to be that bad. If I were to take the frags, dip the corals, and put them on new plugs - how big of a risk am I taking by accepting them?

If they're newly mounted frags, maybe clip them off of that and glue them on new plugs of your own. That should mitigate some of the risk (in addition to dipping).
